The main character, Stella, wakes up one morning to find herself completely alone. Her mother has disappeared without a trace, and soon circumstances arise that completely disrupt Stella's previous perception of a safe world. Her friends decide to help her find answers to the troubling questions. A psychic invited to a youth party unexpectedly provides some clues. Who is the one whose hidden feelings of anger and resentment the psychic senses? Whose secret relationship is being warned about? And who is the sinister and lost soul approaching through the darkness? A chain of events unfolds that takes Stella and her friends from the classroom to criminal hideouts, an abandoned country house, an island, and beyond. To move on with her life, Stella, with the help of her friends, must figure out why she knows nothing about her father and where her mother disappeared to.
