Karl Ast Rumor’s (1886–1971) three-volume work “At the End of the World” is an attempt to summarize the author’s colorful life, spanning three historical periods. These periods are: the life of the Estonian people in the Russian Empire, the achievement and building of independence, and finally the loss of statehood and exile. The author’s biography is presented through a chronological arrangement of his speeches, writings, and even lyrical pieces, following the principle of a conditional diary.
