“Krister Kivi is not your typical travel writer who describes the wonders of foreign landscapes and the marvelous achievements of architects. There is some of that, but not much. Krister describes different things: puddles in Jakarta, the melancholy of nightclubs, the tired cooks of lonely night food stalls, amazingly delicious street food, cockroaches as big as toy cars on hotel walls, rainy night highways and streets. He views life elsewhere as if through a filter, wondering if he could settle there now or someday, because Krister isn't just traveling here or there; he's escaping from here. Being the talented person he is, he can paint large pictures with few words. Krister’s stories are either sad or funny, sometimes both. The stories in this book seem like one long journey, circling the globe as white contrails, already on an unknown number of loops. Occasionally, this plane lands in Tallinn, and then Krister steps through the door of his newspaper office, soon to dash back to the airport and continue his travels.
